Time is relative....

As I write this, I don't really know what time it is here or in America. I have no idea if my phone will bounce an hour forward at some moment that either or neither coincides with 2am here or 2am in the eastern time zone. Or maybe it already has bounced forward??? My laptop, my tablet and my phone all show EST but I don't know if they will bounce forward at some point. The time on the displays between the elevators show yet a different time. The princess app on my phone shows another. Part of this is DLS related, part of this is because we are in a 1/2 time zone, where we shifted the clocks back just 30 minutes, not a whole hour. The pic below is from a few days ago so you can see what I see each morning. Notice the time stamp at the bottom vs the display time at the top.

It's disorienting...it really is. Yes, I can Google it and get it all back in sync, but without manual intervention, I thought it was interesting how the correct time is so available normally and here I'm just curfuffled.

Aside from that, I learned today that we are in "high risk" waters, till we get through the suez canal. The captain informed us the crew has received special training in the case of a pirate attack. Piracy apparently is still a real threat. In 2017, "the Sea Princess, which departed from Sydney, Australia and was on its way toward Dubai, underwent a 10-day nightly blackout period as it traveled through the Indian Ocean and Suez Canal, home to heightened pirate activity. During those times, there were “no deck parties, no movies under the stars, no late-night outdoor bar hopping or pool dipping". Though I did a lot of research about world cruising, I didn't see anything about modern day pirates. But it wouldn't have changed our decision to do this.

So as always, I hope you find this information interesting and worthwhile. This is real stuff that happens which you may not think about when considering a world cruise.
