Strange Coincidences

Today was another full Sea Day. We were supposed to be in San Juan Del Sur, Nicaragua, but that port was cancelled due to safety issues. I'm ok with that.

So I had an extra work day I didn't plan on and it was very productive except when the internet was s...............l..................o......................w. It's painful. I spoke with the attendant at the internet cafe and he said that the satellite signals vary greatly as we move around the world and that the Pacific side is slower than the Atlantic. So I'll probably have a few weeks of intermittent slower speeds. I again ordered breakfast to arrive where I was working and it showed up in no time. I love that!!!

After a light lunch, I met with Lanny, a guy from Kansas I've enjoyed speaking with. He's an engineer and I always have a good rapport with engineers; likely because we generally like a bit more detail in our explanations. Regardless, he's an amiable guy that may have actually done MORE research than I did in preparation of this cruise. So we spent about an hour comparing notes on the various ports. Fellow passengers are a wealth of information and there's always something to learn. Like me, he's not afraid to book excursions independent of the cruise line and he found a few good ones I'll look into. Our time was cut a bit short because I received a call from our wonderful Dr. Daughter in between rounds at the hospital. So good to catch up with her despite her incredibly busy schedule.

Then it was time to workout. Far better than the day before when I was only able to fit in 30 minutes just before the clock struck midnight. Today was 5.3 miles in an hour at a resistence of 20. So far I've run over 30 miles since boarding the ship. That's more than I did in December.....and November.....and 2022 in total. Had to then rush back to the room as tonight was another formal night. I'm not a fan of dressing up but surprisingly, everyone looked really great tonight. I say "surprisingly" because most of our cruises have had a wider age range and to be candid, the younger folks just don't "get all dolled up" like us old timers. It had some elements of the academy awards with all the sequins, camera flashes from the photographers and such. Second night at a preassigned table and we loved it. Great crowd. The couple to our left currently live not far from us in Atlanta, so we had that in common. As we talked more, turns out they had lived in my hometown in New Jersey as well, so we reminisced a lot over dinner. Another couple was Israeli by birth but lived in Canada now after 8 years in Germany. It reminds me just how interesting life can be if you allow it to be. Dinner was amazing with Chateaubriand and Lobster tails. Of course there were other options, but no one chose anything other than the surf and turf.

Afterwards we had a brief but wonderful video call with our other amazing daughter, SIL and the grand. Ain't technology great!!!!!! We then went to the 7:30 show, which was a Dance, Dance, Dance theme....very well done. After that, my wife decided to go to a game show while I decided it was time to visit the casino. Another great night. They called my name for winning a prize, which gave me some extra gambling chips. So I had even more fun than normal gambling with "found money".

And now it's time to hit the hay after another solid day at sea without any lulls. I feel like we have the perfect amount of activity without a dull moment or the feeling we're missing out on something. Each day finds its own rhythm and I really enjoy that. Tomorrow's another sea day and work day!
