Rainy days and Mondays

"Into each life a little Rain must fall" and "you can't have a rainbow without the rain". Yeah, we all know that, but we still want sunny port days like every other port so far. Ok, "It's the rainy season". Blah, blah, blah. That only helps a bit.
This port had rain and lots of it. Sometimes music and specifically lyrics will help me reframe my perspective. So many songs have been written about the rain, some glamorizing it, some loathing it, most fascinated by it. Here are the top 10 according to the billboard charts.
“Rain on Me”—Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande
“Have You Ever Seen The Rain”—Creedence Clearwater Revival
“November Rain”—Guns N’ Roses
“Purple Rain”—Prince
“Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head”—BJ Thomas
“Singin’ in the Rain—Gene Kelly
“No Rain”—Blind Melon
“The Rain Song”—Led Zeppelin
“She’s My Kind of Rain”—Tim McGraw
“Through The Rain”—Mariah Carey
My favorite rain song for this port is Neil Sedaka's Laughter in the Rain........Strolling along country roads with my baby It starts to rain, it begins to pour Without an umbrella we're soaked to the skin I feel a shiver run up my spine I feel the warmth of her hand in mine. Ooh, I hear laughter in the rain Walking hand in hand with the one I love Ooh, how I love the rainy days And the happy way I feel inside.
And that pretty much describes our day except we were geocaching, not strolling, and we took cover in someone's carport, not under a tree.
We got on land about 8:30 and left about 10:30. It's a sleepy little port so with most excursions cancelled, there wasn't much to do. That's OK. It happens.
Once back on the ship, we literally had to put everything in the dryer, including our sneakers. That's OK too.
We ran into a couple from a neighboring town we've been wanting to get to know better and so today was the perfect day for that. We had lunch in the diningroom, a nice change. Very engaging conversation on a variety of topics, which is always nice. It was a 2 hr lunch if that tells you anything. I spent the afternoon catching up on some work and then headed to dinner, where we had another good table full of conversation, including one of my favorites topics, woodworking. There were 2 woodworkers besides me, so that was awesome. We shared our past projects and plans for future projects. Here are 3 of my favorites. A coffee table, a kitchen island and a wine rack...all from reclaimed lumber.
After dinner, there was a high energy entertainer we enjoyed. Since tomorrow's a big day with an excursion in Cairns, (pronounced CANS), and more rain unfortunately, we're going hit the hay early. Until tomorrow.
