Now I've seen it (m)all!!!

Second day in Dubai. This was an overnight port, which allows you to stay out late and enjoy the city at night. For example, here's a pic from the light show at the Burj Khalifa, the world's tallest building. We were back on the ship for the folklorica show, so this pic was taken by a fellow passenger.

For day 2, we decided to go to the mall, yes, the mall. This isn't just any mall though. It has an aquarium, a skating rink, a movie theater, a "fashion section" (Manolo Blahnik, Louis Vuitton, Christian Dior etc), a jewelry row with Tiffany's, Van Cleef and Arpels, Cartier, etc and more. There were waterfalls and a kids zone with amusement park-like rides. A giant food court as well as stand alone restaurants with familiar brands like the Cheesecake Factory and Texas de Brazil. Since we only had half a day, it was a good casual way to spend the morning. Our ride over and back on the hoho provided more photo opportunities. Here are some pics from the mall experience.

Many of our ship mates did the excursion which included going to the observation deck of the Burj Khalifa. It was $50 pp and a 45 min wait to go up and another 45 min wait to come back down. So we opted not to spend the time. Here are pics other ship mates have posted.

At 11:30, we got back in the hoho to return to the ship. After a light lunch, I continued a book I'm reading and took a nap (only my second one on board).

Dinner was typical and good.

The show was a pianist, who was quite good. A child prodigy. He added some fun talking points and humor which made the show more enjoyable. I also liked that they had the keyboard projected on the screen.

It's was a good day. We really loved Dubai. Tomorrow, Muscat, Oman.
