It's a good day for a good day

Sea days are always a great time to decide new decisions, challenge your personal status quo, start a new habit or reimplement a good old habit. I've been experimenting on sea days with my workout time. For 50 years, on and off, I've exercised in the morning. It's certainly the most efficient time to exercise and then get your daily shower in afterwards. But I love mornings and exercise...well...makes me not look forward to mornings. It's a have-to-do much more than a want-to-do. So I've been playing with the time of my workouts, mid morning, noon, mid afternoon and late evening after the shows. And ya know what I've discovered? I hate exercise anytime 😊. Just kidding. Today was the best and I think it will be a new habit. I worked out from 11:30-1:30 and it was perfect! I really enjoyed the workout and it fit the day perfectly. Because you're so close to your stateroom all the time, showering and changing clothes is never really a hassle. And there's no need to be efficient on a cruise.

I did consulting work from 7:00-11:15 and the internet was excellent today so extremely productive. Then a quick change and off to the fitness center. Wasn't crowded, so major points for that. Did 8 miles in 1.5 hrs at a resistence of 20 (which I discovered today is the highest option). Then a 1/2 hr in the sauna. After a quick shower and change of clothes, I still wasn't hungry for lunch but I heard they had shrimp and rack of lamb chops, so after a light lunch of the aforementioned delicacies, off to the casino for an hour, where I won back my loss from yesterday + $5. It was a mental victory more than a financial one. I know it's irrational, but I've decided the cards gods are better to me if I worship the exercise gods first. There are worse things to believe. I failed to mention the dessert buffet I found after lunch, 1/2 finished. It was almost 2:30 pm after all. I didn't have any but it was nice to see so many people enjoying it.

By this point it was almost time for dinner, formal night again. My wife and I looked quite dapper as she wore her new necklace with a matching dress (yes, that's how it works she informed me) and I donned my best suit. Dinner was great, surf and turf amongst the options so we both selected that. Escargot to start with, followed by shrimp and crab bisque, and the main course of tenderloin (rare) and a generous lobster tail. Pics below

We went to the 7:30 show and it was their best yet. A medley of powerhouse songs belted out with some operetic moments. If you're wondering about the hightened level food and entertainment, it's the last "real" night of the cruise for those getting off in LA on Thursday, and officially the end of our first segment. Cruiselines do that so your last memory is your best. Tomorrow night will be packing for those folks so a lot of administration getting ready for disembarkation.

As for us, we're looking forward to the second segment in the south pacific.
