Another festive day at sea

The AFC and NFC playoff games dominated today whether or not you like football or even stepped foot on the Lido deck. The whole ship was a buzz with the anticipation coupled with simply perfect weather to watch football on the jumbotron. Because most passengers have the drink package, all sorts of libations were flowing along with tailgate mainstays like burgers from the grill, sandwiches and all sorts of chips and dips. Because we're 5 hours behind the east coast, the festivities started at 10am and ran straight thru till 5pm. Pretty perfect.

I started the day early to get some month-end work done for my optometry client and then went to the church service at 9am. It was over in time to get a front row seat for the first game. I watched thru Q3 when it was pretty clear the Eagles would be victorious and went down to the gym to start my work out. I put the game on the little screen just to make sure I didn't miss a comeback. I did 2 solid hours on the elliptical, in time to catch the second half of the chiefs/bengals game. That game was far more exciting.

I failed to mention that I've been listening to an audio book while working out. The Starless Crown by James Rollins. It's a 22hr book and it made my workouts pass quickly. Great book but it's clear the ending was designed for a sequel. Tomorrow, I'm going to watch movie "You People", just came out on Netflix. It's a perfect 2 hours. As for the stats 24 days in, I've worked out 26 hrs and run 140 miles.

Dinner was simple salmon on a salad. It's my go-to. Appetizer pic below was an Asian stir fry with shrimp. Even the simplest of dishes isn't just served, it is presented. I think it's one of the things I love about cruising. Dining is a nod to days gone by, when breaking bread with one another was an event, every element considered and heightened by some accoutrement, every moment was spent either enjoying a course or anticipating the next one. Each course had to be better than the one before.

Of course that was before we cared about our waistlines.......after 140 miles, I can say I haven't gained any weight.....but I haven't lost any either. Perhaps I should be thankful.

The 7:30 show was a trumpet player....a great 45 min nap for me. Again, not a judgement on the quality of the talent....that's my lull time. I'm currently at the 8:30 Dan the man show and will be in bed shortly thereafter.

Till tomorrow.....
